Milo’s coming down to the Horn Gallery this Saturday. It’s going to be a fun way to start the second half of the semester for both fans and people who have never heard his music before. I’ve grown up alongside his music since I was a Freshmen in High-School and I feel like the music he’s releasing now is some of the best of his career. His most recent album So the Flies Don’t Come features production by art rap veteran Kenny Segal. Alternatively Milo’s making music under his Scallops Hotel name with Plain Speaking. Both projects feature abstract thinking, snack food crumbs, and whatever Rory Ferreira is passionate about at the time. It’s rare that an artist shows you who they are and Milo’s music has always made me feel like I had a friend to talk to rather than a favorite rapper. His music can be goofy, intense, lovely, and somehow manages to always seems like something real, like there’s someone sitting in a room with you “talking good” rather than really rapping. Come down on Saturday and see what he’s about. It’s going to be a blast.
Doors are at 9:00, and the show starts at 9:30.
